"We kept this image fairly simple but yet a classical example of subject, lighting, and utilizing layers in post-production work. Notice how her hair and facial features stand out against the background? This low-key background setup is trickly in lighting and pre-visualization prior to making the various exposures.  Not all current photographers can do it correctly. If your photographer spends more time looking at the LCD panel on their camera's back than concentrating on you, you have the wrong photographer. I am proud to be from the old school of photography. I learned utilizing the intricacies of professional films which enhance the understanding of using digital applications so that portrait detail is enhanced, not lost when building collages.  Your photographer should be able to enhance a great image to make it wow you.  Not salvage a poor image to make it passable.
