What Was So Special?
"This
photograph was created at a private home in Sherburne County,
Minnesota. Getting to know this family and photographing them was
a joy. This is another example of combining ambient light with two
off-camera electronic strobes in order to match the overcast
daylight with the digital camera's sensor. If your photographer
does not know how to do this, you have the wrong photographer. Do
not be swayed by web sites with sub-ordinary photography &
bedazzled with glitzy music and flash-in-the-pan special effects.
Are you hiring a photographer or a web site developer to do your
portraiture? If you look closely at this image, you will also see
they are highlighted with a separation light placed behind them
and fired in synch with the other two strobes. It took matching
three lights with a heavy overcast morning to make this image POP off your monitor.
I set the power so that we used just enough to give a nice
sculpting dimension to their faces. As a photographer, you must
know just the right amount of additional lighting to utilize in a
portrait. Beautiful, isn't it?"
